Designer Discipline Juice: Delightful Yellow Watermelon, Pear & Ginger Drink

10984269_10202769361594668_7737789627675905185_nThis mix is a Designer Discipline favorite!  Many variations were tested to perfect it. It aids in digestion, is full on antioxidants, and contains high amounts of minerals including magnesium, calcium, manganese and iron.


It is loaded with vitamin K as it uses swiss chard, the often overlooked juicing vegetable.  Swiss chard has a delicate flavor with natural sodium that we’ve balanced out in the mix by adding pear and yellow watermelon.


Yellow watermelon is not very different from red watermelon, but I get so excited when able to purchase this unique melon, sometimes classified as a vegetable.  Yellow watermelons are known for their extremely sweet taste, similar to honey, and will help counter the swiss chard.


Pears are high in soluble fiber so this mix can substitute for lunch or dinner as it is very fulfilling.


Add in the grapefruit and ginger and you have a unique mix that promotes digestion and cleansing of the palette and system.

Designer Discipline: Delightful Yellow Watermelon, Pear & Ginger Drink 

  • Yellow Watermelon – 1 1/2 Cup
  • 1 Whole Pear- Cored and Sliced
  • 1 Whole Grapefruit (Cut the whole grapefruit in half lengthwise and extract fruit and juice from peel with a spoon directly into the blender.
  • Ginger- 1 Inch Piece Peeled
  • Swiss Chard- 4 Whole leaves torn to pieces stems diced
Recipe makes approximately 32 ounces.
Add all ingredients to a blender (except for the swiss chard) blend or pulse to a liquid consistency.
Add in the Swiss chard and blend well.
If you prefer a chilled drink or a smoothie consistency add a ½ cup of ice cubes and blend.
Decorate your glass with slices of yellow watermelon, serve immediately and enjoy!
